As Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for maintaining the records and controls needed to ensure accurate and timely financials according to GAAP as well as leading and developing a team of accounts to assist in doing so.

Primary Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller

  • Manage a team of 4+ supervisors who oversee individual teams across the accounting department
  • Oversight of information and programs needed to ensure effective control and reporting of the budgeting, tax planning, real estate, and recognition of assets
  • Update and maintain the companies financial and management information systems 
  • Ensure adherence with all necessary budgetary reporting requirements
  • Prepare inventory LIFO and asset least calculation annually
  • Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry
  • Coordinate and preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, budgets, and information reports
  • Supports and monitors relational databases and business information systems
  • Creates BI reports for end-users
  • Trains end-users on using BI tools

Main Requirements for the Assistant Controller

  • Bachelor’s degree, with 5-10 years of related experience and/or training
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, legal documents, as well as the ability to write speeches and articles for publication
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, etc.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a situation with limited information or multiple variables. 
  • A background of multi-tasking, organizational, prioritization, and follow-up skills to manage multiple accounting issues
  • Knowledge and understanding of GAAP principle and their practical application
