As a Controller for our client, you will be responsible to all the duties necessary to prepare, manage, direct accounting activities, and ensure the integrity of the company period financial statements. This position will perform related accounting and financial reporting support activities including preparing journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, auditing, cost accounting, liability estimates and analysis, and cost control, resource planning and scheduling. The ideal candidate detail-oriented individual who will be happy in a small and laid-back department environment and does not need to be micromanaged.

What YOU get to DO at this innovative company

  • Maintain all procedures and controls related to the company's financial accounts.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reporting of the Profit and Loss on a daily basis, including conduct period P&L trend analysis and reconciliations, analyzing the profit & loss statements, profit bridges, and other financial and statistical supporting schedules, as well as preparation of variance explanations.
  • Conduct Accounting for the company's Cost of Goods with a focus on Inventory on hand, Inventory reserves, sensitive inventory movements and associated inventory variances.
  • Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, and analytical reviews.
  • Daily management of all aspects of accounts payable and receivable, including, but not limited to, timely and accurate payment of vendors/suppliers, managing invoice workflow processes for approvals timeliness, and accuracy, supplier record maintenance, coding of invoices to the spend categories (G/L), expense report processing, generating settlement runs and ad hoc payments, monitoring of A/P aging to maximize discounts and avoid late charges, reply to external inquiries and general duties related to billing.
  • Support the development of the annual budget and overall financial plan including budget templates, develop expense and headcount projections and prepare insightful budget / forecast versus actual analyses.
  • Prepare monthly reporting for balance sheet reviews and other financial reviews.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close process, the close schedule and general ledger tasks.
  • Support external audit processes and submit recommendations for improving accounting processes, procedures and controls.

What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related area.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting/finance.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online accounting software
  • Advanced to Expert level Microsoft Excel skillset
  • Proactive learning environment for new software and procedures.
