Our client, a global commodities trader and an investor in strategic commodity assets. They use capital on a proprietary basis to buy and sell physical commodities and leverage their know-how in asset optimization and logistics, and their access to the physical markets, to trade financial commodities. They also use their industry expertise and private equity backed capital base to invest in and develop strategic commodity assets.

We are looking for an exceptional Junior Credit Analyst, reporting to the Global Head of Credit Risk. The primary function of this role is making sure that the daily OTC margin process is completed proficiently and timely, while striving to improve internal margin processes and efficiencies on an on-going basis.  It is also very important to build strong relationships with the OTC counterparty credit teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run the daily OTC margining process for the North American Gas & Power business and act as a backup for the European business
  • Managing margin call disputes and reconciliations
  • Prepare, review and deliver various exposure reports (North America, Europe & Global) from Cube Logic, as well as other ad-hoc analysis and reports
  • Onboarding counterparties and the respective Master Agreement margin and credit terms in Cube Logic
  • Assist in preparing detailed credit reviews based on the spreading and analysis of a company’s financial statements (including understanding cash flow analysis and capital structure), industry trends and energy commodity market prices and news
  • Assist in writing credit reviews and recommending credit limits and internal credit ratings

Professional Experience:

  • The ability to provide both solutions for reducing credit risk exposure and options to commercial traders to enable trading
  • Strong data mining skills is a plus, as well as knowledge of Cube Logic (very important) & Endur (OpenLink), Bloomberg & MS Office
  • Formal credit training, as well as credit experience in a commercial bank,  is preferred
  • Knowledge of the credit rating agencies (Fitch, Moody’s & S&P) methodologies and ratings
  • Understanding of credit terms of industry standard energy commodity Master Agreements (NAESB, ISDA, PPAs, Credit Support Annexes & Master Netting Agreements)
  • A quick-thinking and very detail-oriented person that can multi-task
  • The ability to identify problems quickly and elevate properly for resolution
  • Knowledge of Spanish is a plus


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field
  • 3-5 years credit risk experience in a North American energy commodity trading company with physical assets
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of CubeLogic
  • Self-starter with excellent communication skills
