As they continue to expand, they are seeking an Employee Relations Manager that will be responsible for managing a range of activities related to employee/labor relations and human resource compliance for the National Capital Division. This position is based in Bethesda, MD and supports company operations in DC, Montgomery County and Northern, VA.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage employee relations including prompt investigation and disposition of concerns, complaints, and potential violations. 
  • Provide proactive solutions to reduce turnover as measured by the company.
  • Conduct Exit Surveys and Town Hall meetings.
  • Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy, and employment laws. 
  • Gather information and participate in unemployment hearings. Work to improve Win/Loss percentage. 
  • Effective manage labor relations including representing the company in union meetings, grievances, arbitrations and training managers and supervisors to ensure good labor relations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for supervisors and managers regarding employee relations and employee development issues.
  • Coach and counsel leaders on appropriate handling of employee performance and conduct issues.
  • Actively review and stay current on all applicable rules and regulations related to employment law.
  • Partner with RCI HR, Department Director, and Recruitment to manage communication updates, including updates to policies, processes and necessary training/education to employees and managers.
  • Creates, maintain, and implement employee recognition programs (i.e., Employee Leader of the Month, On the Spot Awards, etc.). 
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal discrimination and employment regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of HR best practices, compliance, employment law and regulations.
  • Ability to conduct internal investigations and remain neutral. 
  • Experience dealing with sensitive information and have ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision; prioritize and complete tasks while working under a deadline in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Flexibility, as this position will be required to work some nights and weekend to meet with employees or hold meetings.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft office products, good organizational skills and must be able to multitask and excellent customer service skills.
  • Travel may be required for various Employee Relations meetings and or events.
