the ideal PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT does not require a super structured environment and has a hands-on mindset, someone that is willing to grow and learn as a team. Some of your responsibilities as a PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT are:
- Review daily financial transactions processed at the property level forcompleteness, accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all applicable internal and external policies
- Maintain orderly accounting records and vendor files
- Full cycle AP, AR, and GL accounting
- Research and respond to vendor inquiries
- Process monthly resident utility billings (RUBS)
- Post and prepare journal entries
- Perform month-end close procedures
- Review general ledger entries for coding accuracy as well as completeness
- Complete monthly bank account and balance sheet account reconciliationsCompliance
- Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training materials, memos, and verbal instructions
- Assist the controller in assembling information in response to all audit requests and debt covenant compliance inquiriesReporting
- Assist the controller in preparing month-end and quarter-end reports
- Assist in the preparation and loading of annual budgets and forecastsCommunication
- Maintain open communication lines with property management and provide assistance/direction to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions
- Ability to speak effectively with property staff and vendors
- Must have a team-oriented attitude.
- Assist with onboarding of new properties, which may include lease audits, due diligence accounting reviews, and the setting up of bank accounts, accounting systems, software, and procedures.
- Perform other duties/projects as assigned by the Controller or President of Operations

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN A PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT:
- Bachelors or Associate degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience in a staff accountant or property accountant role
- In lieu of a degree, will consider a candidate with 5+ years multi-family property accounting and bookkeeping experience
- Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate accounting concepts to non-accountants
- Ability to perform in a deadline-oriented environment without compromising accuracy
- Exceptional organizational, time management and work prioritization skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Exhibit a high level of professionalism and integrity
