Security is critical to the success of our clients solutions. They are looking for a highly skilled Security Engineer to help them continue to iterate and innovate for their clients while maintaining the highest standards of security. The ideal candidate will have well-rounded security knowledge, strong software engineering skills, and an ability to think both defensively and offensively, and the desire and ability to not only steer at the high level but roll up your sleeves and implement the solution.
 
As a Security Engineer, you will be a security subject matter expert across the firm that will drive security requirements throughout the engineering process (solicitation, refinement, specification, and implementation planning). You will be expected to develop tooling to automate manual security processes, perform hands-on internal assessments of client products, and provide effective incident response, remediation, and forensics when required.

Primary Responsibilities of the Security Engineer

  • Examine existing infrastructure & applications to identify and reduce risk
  • Work with product and other departments to drive security initiatives and increase overall security
  • Design, implement, or establish security requirements for applications and operating procedures
  • Recommend improvements in security systems or procedures
  • Correlate threat intelligence with security systems & controls to handle security events
  • Reduce time-­to-­detect and time­-to-­remediate by driving the automation of security event management, vulnerability assessment, and intelligence correlation
  • Respond to emergency situations on an on-call basis
  • Collaborate with engineers to make sure new features & services meet security requirements, including compliance with applicable standards or regulations
  • Perform code reviews and threat modeling and write security features in code
  • Promote security awareness to ensure and improve application security
  • Perform risk analyses/threat modeling so that appropriate countermeasures can be developed
  • Provide system design and integration recommendations
  • Assess the nature and level of threats so that the scope of the problem can be determined
  • Prepare, maintain, or update security procedures, security system drawings, or related documentation
  • Budget and schedule security design work
  • Outline system security criteria for pre-bid meetings with clients and companies to ensure comprehensiveness and appropriateness for implementation
  • Train personnel in security procedures or use of security tools
  • Monitor the work of others in the design, implementation, and startup phases of secure applications
  • Test security measures for final acceptance and implement or provide procedures for ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the measures

Primary Requirements for the Security Engineer

  • Minimum of three (3) years prior experience in a security engineering or architecture role
  • BS in Computer Science/Engineering or other technical field of studyOne or more relevant industry certifications (CISSP, CCSP, AWS SAP, Azure SAE)
  • Solid understanding of the OWASP Top 10 and business logic flaws across large and small code bases
  • Solid experience with security architecture and risk mitigation
  • Knowledge of security standards in a cloud architecture
  • Cloud administration (configuration, patching, deployment, change management)
  • Security assessment experience, either internally or as a consultant
  • Hands on experience using SIEM, WAF, vulnerability scanning
