As they continue to grow, they are looking to hire a Senior Property Accountant who will be responsible for the financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of multifamily properties. This role includes the preparation of financial statements, recording of typical accounting journal entries and assisting with accounts payable and cash management. Task also include coordinating with community managers and asset managers on monthly owner reports and special projects. The Senior Real Estate Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager.

 What YOU get to DO at this innovative company:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
  • Post monthly journal entries and prepare monthly financial reports for a portfolio of properties, including reclasses and accruals provided by onsite community managers.
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report to management.
  • Ensure that accounts payable are appropriately reviewed, approved and paid in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and ensure timely payment of all real estate taxes.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations for all accounts.
  • Prepare cash projections for assigned properties.
  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare Capital/ Replacement draws on a quarterly/ monthly basis.
  • Monitor debt service payments and compliance with debt covenants
  • Assistance with Accounts Payable duties, such as, entering invoices and pulling AP reports.
  • Work directly with Accounting Manager to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Set up and maintain vendor accounts in AP system.
  • Assist with any additional projects as directed by the Accounting Manager.

What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business-related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience in multifamily real estate full-cycle accounting.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Thrives in unstructured environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with great follow through on tasks and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communicator with strong customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated individual who possesses a “roll up the sleeves attitude.”
  • Knowledge of Resman and Entrata systems is a plus.
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, resourceful.
