General Contractor Estimator

They are hiring an experienced General Contractor Estimator to join our dynamic team.

The General Contractor Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost and resources required for construction projects. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates and bids. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.

What YOU get to DO

  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and other industry contacts.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure alignment on project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Present and explain estimates to clients, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and track project costs, updating estimates as needed to reflect changes in scope or conditions.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, including pricing, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in construction estimating.

What YOU need to SUCCEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in a general contracting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Proficient in estimating software and tools (e.g. Excel, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
