This month, we welcomed Jared Butler (pictured above on the left) to recruitAbility to assist with our business development efforts. Butler is a former University of Texas swimmer who is beginning his career in the recrutiing industry.
See below to learn more about his background, what he’ll be doing at recruitAbility, and what he enjoys outside of the office.
Describe your role at recruitAbility.
I am responsible for growing sales by connecting with rapidly growing companies in Austin, the surrounding areas, and beyond. I’m looking to expand recruitAbility and generate more business and partnerships.
What made you want to work in recruiting?
In March, I met with Nad, recruitAbility’s CEO, and learned what recruiting is all about. I had been the Aquatic Director/Head Coach at Barton Creek Country Club, and I thought this career would be a great transition from the coaching world. There are some similar aspects to both jobs in the sense that I recruited swimmers to my team as a coach. Also, a lot of people told me that I would be a great fit in the recruiting industry. This is the start to a great career in recruiting, and I couldn’t be more excited.
What’s your favorite part of recruiting?
So far, I’m enjoying learning about some really cool companies in Austin. Being involved in candidate searches and placing candidates in jobs to better their lives and make them happy is rewarding, too.
What made you want to join recruitAbility?
Talking to Nad, Richard, Scott, and Damien helped me make the decision. After those conversations, I knew this was the place I needed to be. The team has been great to me so far!
Do you have a favorite business book or podcast?
I listen to “Motley Fool Money,” and I’m currently listening to an audiobook called “The Simple Path to Wealth.”
What’s your favorite part about living in Austin?
Everything. To be more specific, it’s a big city, but it’s small, too. You can drive 15 minutes in any direction and you would have no clue that there is a big city just around the corner.
Favorite spot to get food in Austin?
This is a tough question, I love food. I think my two favorite places are Loro and Matt’s El Rancho.
What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?
I love everything outdoors around Austin (golfing, boating, fishing, swimming). I like to snowboard, too. I also love hanging out with my friends and meeting new people.
