In June, we welcomed Karthika Senthilkumar to recruitAbility as a sourcing specialist. Karthika graduated from Rice University in 2018 with a degree in psychology. Before joining recruitAbility, she was an SAT/ACT tutor.

Describe your role at recruitAbility.
I’m responsible for finding potential candidates for a wide range of rapidly growing companies across the country. My job is to make sure our recruiters get a steady flow of people who will be a good fit for our clients.
What made you want to work in recruiting?
In May, I had a call with Scott Beardsley, the director of technical recruiting, and his enthusiasm was infectious! As a former SAT tutor, I was looking for a career in which I could help people find their ideal setting, whether that was higher education or a job. That led me to recruiting.
What’s your favorite part of recruiting?
I love the rush that comes when both the hiring company and the candidate are excited about how they will complement each other! I’m happy that I’m here to help our recruiters optimize their work, which means more people get placed.
What made you want to join recruitAbility?
As I talked with the leadership team, I saw recruitAbility’s focus on fostering a sense of teamwork, as opposed to competition between co-workers. I’ve always wanted to work on a team where people lift each other up, so it was a great fit.
What’s your favorite part about living in Austin?
There are dogs everywhere and so many places you can take them! Austin is a place where people don’t look at me like I’m crazy when I give a monologue about greyhounds.
Favorite spot to get food in Austin?
It depends on which country’s food I’m in the mood for! For South Indian food, I love Sangam Chettinad. When I need dumplings, I go to Fat Dragon.
What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?
I love hanging out with my dog and placing retired racing greyhounds into “greyt” homes. I also enjoy baking—especially pies—and exploring new restaurants around town.
