Category Manager – Liquid Fuels

Our client is a large, well-established manufacturer in the concrete industry, with a strong national footprint.
They are seeking a Procurement Manager to oversee the sourcing strategy and supply chain for diesel, gasoline, natural gas, and other fuels used across its U.S. operations. This role will manage vendor relationships, pricing strategies, fuel logistics, and risk mitigation to ensure reliable supply for transportation and off-road equipment.
This role can be based in Atlanta (GA), Houston (TX), Overland Park (KS), or Denver (CO)
What YOU get to DO in this critical role:
- Own the Fuel category strategy across multiple business units and geographic locations.
- Manage supplier relationships and lead contract negotiations for diesel, gasoline, etc..
- Partner with operations and logistics teams to optimize delivery methods, maintain supply security, and reduce downtime.
- Evaluate current vendor performance and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Monitor market trends, pricing benchmarks, and regulatory factors to ensure competitive positioning.
- Track and report on KPIs and savings goals, presenting insights to senior leadership.
What you NEED to SUCCEED in this role:
- 5+ years of sourcing, procurement, or category management experience, ideally in fuel, energy, logistics, or field-based services.
- Strong knowledge of the fuel supply chain, including terminals, transportation, and bulk delivery.
- Proven ability to manage vendors, conduct negotiations, and analyze supply/demand data.
- Experience supporting multi-site or distributed field operations.
- Bachelor’s degree required; supply chain or business-related field preferred.
