Our client is a consulting firm that provides engineering and construction management services for large-scale transportation infrastructure projects. With a strong presence in Georgia, the company partners with agencies like GDOT to manage complex highway and bridge construction projects from start to finish.

As the company continues to grow, they are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer – Heavy Civil/Highway Construction to join their Georgia team. The selected candidate will lead the on-site construction administration and management of GDOT roadway and bridge projects. This role involves oversight of CEI teams, contract interpretation, and quality assurance to ensure successful project delivery. The preferred location is Atlanta, though candidates in west-central or southwestern Georgia will also be considered.


What YOU get to DO at this growing company:

  • Independently manage complex GDOT roadway, bridge, and civil infrastructure construction projects.

  • Supervise and coordinate on-site CEI teams, including Junior Engineers, Inspectors, and administrative staff.

  • Monitor and oversee traffic control and erosion control implementation on active projects.

  • Administer key project deliverables such as monthly and final estimates, change orders, and claims documentation.

  • Lead preconstruction, progress, and pre-activity meetings with contractors and stakeholders.

  • Participate in preliminary and final field plan reviews, scoping meetings, and assist with staffing plans.

  • Deliver project support through communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

  • Uphold integrity, ethics, and professionalism in all external and internal engagements.


What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy civil or highway construction.

  • At least 5 years of direct experience managing GDOT construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and field operations.

  • Working knowledge of GDOT manuals, policies, construction standards, and procedures.

  • Ability to interpret and administer contracts and technical specifications.

  • Experience executing GDOT QA/QC processes and supporting quality oversight.


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential.

  • GDOT Worksite Erosion Control Supervisor (WECS) certification.

  • GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.

  • Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level 1A certification.
