Director EHS

Our client is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead workplace safety, health, and environmental programs. This role is critical in creating a safe and sustainable workplace for employees and the surrounding community, while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. The EHS Manager will oversee the company’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS), Chemical Management System (CMS), and establish protocols for responding to natural disasters and other disruptions with potential environmental impact.
What YOU get to DO in this role:

Develop and manage corporate EHS and EMS programs, procedures, and work instructions to ensure compliance and promote safety culture.

Coordinate the implementation of corporate safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental policies across all operations.

Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to evaluate compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.

Ensure outside contractors adhere to company safety and environmental standards.

Oversee and maintain site environmental permits and reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.

Collaborate with engineers on new equipment and machinery to ensure compliance with safety requirements.

Identify and mitigate potential hazards through inspections of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment.

Partner with Human Resources to review and enhance employee safety programs.

Maintain and organize OSHA-required documentation, logs, and reports, ensuring readiness for inspections.

Represent the company before federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.

Support employee training programs on EHS policies, chemical handling, and workplace safety practices.

Serve as a role model for safe personal practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance
What you NEED to SUCCEED in this role:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, health, or environmental discipline preferred (or equivalent experience).

Industry certifications in health & safety or environmental disciplines preferred.

3+ years of related health/safety management experience required.

10+ years of health/safety or chemical management experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations, particularly in chemical distribution environments.

Familiarity with ISO 14001 EMS requirements.

In-depth understanding of workplace safety, chemical handling, and environmentally sustainable practices.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) written and verbal communication is a plus.

Auditor training certification is a plus.

Willingness to travel frequently (30–40%, within the U.S. and Mexico).
