Electrical Engineer – Building Design

Our client is an established, award-winning architectural, engineering, and interior design firm headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida. With decades of experience and a broad portfolio in healthcare, senior living, multifamily high-rise, and commercial design, the firm provides fully integrated design and engineering services across the Southeast.
As their project volume continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for Building Design to join their multi-disciplinary team. This is a full-time position for a licensed electrical engineer who will manage electrical design across new construction and renovation projects involving senior living, healthcare, and high-rise multifamily buildings.
What YOU get to DO at this growing company:

Lead the electrical design and engineering of large-scale building projects, including senior living, healthcare, and multifamily developments.

Oversee all aspects of electrical system design including power, low-voltage, and lighting, ensuring code compliance and client satisfaction.

Produce electrical system load calculations, sizing, and layouts for power, data, and lighting distribution.

Coordinate with in-house architectural and engineering teams to develop integrated, high-quality design solutions.

Perform site visits and assessments to evaluate existing electrical infrastructure and provide engineering evaluations.

Participate in design meetings, construction coordination, and client presentations.

Ensure engineering projects meet quality, budgetary, and scheduling expectations while aligning with internal design standards.

Guide and support design teams and junior staff throughout the design and construction phases.
What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role:

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida and an active member of NCEES – required.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical building design within an AE firm environment.

Demonstrated experience with power systems, lighting, and low-voltage design for complex building systems.

Proficient in conducting load calculations, equipment sizing, and designing outlet, data, and telecom layouts.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional team environments and client-facing roles.

Ability to assess field conditions, lead site visits, and resolve technical issues throughout project lifecycles.

Strong commitment to quality, service, and engineering best practices.

Experience in both new construction and renovation projects using concrete, masonry, and precast/PT systems.

Software proficiency in AutoCAD 2020, Revit 2020, and Microsoft Office Suite.
