Hardware Test Engineer

Our client is an advanced aerospace engineering firm known for delivering high-reliability space components for a wide range of missions. The company is currently seeking a Contractor – Hardware Test Engineer for a 6-month assignment at their Littleton, CO facility. In this role, you will be instrumental in validating critical space hardware to ensure performance under the extreme conditions of launch and orbit. The position supports high-profile programs, including human-rated missions like Orion, and requires hands-on test development, automation, and execution expertise.

Design and execute test plans, procedures, and automation scripts to validate space-grade hardware.

Lead complex testing efforts for deliverable aerospace hardware in simulated space environments (e.g., thermal vacuum, vibration, and shock).

Collaborate with design and requirements teams to define test strategies aligned with mission success.

Analyze results, document findings, and generate detailed test reports and data packages.

Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis of hardware issues using lab instruments and diagnostic tools.

Implement industry-standard processes and practices (AS9100) to ensure test quality and traceability.

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians during test activities.

Lead test teams and resolve technical disagreements with a clear, solutions-oriented mindset.

Travel up to 15% to support testing at off-site facilities; occasional overnight and weekend shifts may be required.
What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Science Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 5 years of aerospace/space-related hardware testing experience.

Proficiency in developing test plans, procedures, and reports for complex systems.

Hands-on experience with environmental testing methods: Thermal Vacuum (TVAC), Vibration, and Shock.

Scripting and automation capabilities (Python required).

Familiarity with Linux operating systems.

Skilled in PCA (Printed Circuit Assembly) troubleshooting and digital signal debugging using scopes, logic analyzers, and lab supplies.

Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective technical reporting and client interaction.

U.S. Citizenship required.
