Project Engineer

What YOU get to DO in this key leadership role:

Lead all aspects of project execution—from planning and scope definition to client communication, scheduling, and financial performance.

Manage projects ranging in value from $20K to $5M, ensuring timely and profitable delivery.

Develop and implement detailed project execution plans, schedules, and charters using Microsoft Project or similar tools.

Track progress, budgets, and milestones to maintain alignment with scope and objectives.

Allocate resources efficiently and assign responsibilities to internal teams and subcontractors.

Oversee procurement, subcontractor coordination, and risk management to ensure smooth execution.

Conduct and lead technical meetings, manage documentation, and maintain accurate records in network-based systems.

Prepare and manage change orders, cost proposals, and invoicing, ensuring positive cash flow and client satisfaction.

Support technical writing and documentation, including project definitions, RFIs, and progress reports.

Identify opportunities for scope growth, additional work, or client relationship expansion.
What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role:
Experience
-
10+ years of project management experience, preferably in automation, controls, or systems integration.

10+ years of experience in controls engineering or equivalent technical disciplines.

Demonstrated success in client-facing leadership and multi-discipline project delivery.

Industry experience in one or more of the following sectors, Water and Wastewater (preferred), Life Sciences, Specialty Chemicals or Food and Beverage

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field required.

PMP certification preferred.
Technical Skills
-
Strong understanding of electrical schematic design (Motor Control Panels, PLC Panels, Operator Interfaces).

Familiarity with UL standards (UL508A, UL698, UL698A).

Comprehensive knowledge of field instrumentation and motor control center specifications.

Experience leading local and remote engineering teams and mentoring junior staff.
Preferred Tools & Systems

Proficiency with Rockwell PLC and SCADA systems.

Familiarity with Ignition and Wonderware System Platform.

Experience working with municipal bidding processes and technical specifications.
