Our client is a cutting-edge aerospace firm based in Goleta, CA, specializing in satellite mechanisms, deployable structures, and solar array systems for the global space industry. Their systems support high-profile missions with NASA, the Department of Defense, and leading commercial space providers. As their project pipeline grows, the team is looking for a Contract Quality Assurance Inspector to support ongoing manufacturing and assembly efforts for a 6-month period.


What YOU get to DO at this innovative company:

  • Perform receiving inspections of purchased parts and subassemblies to verify supplier compliance with specifications and purchase order requirements.

  • Conduct in-process inspections of assembled aerospace hardware to confirm adherence to detailed engineering drawings and process documentation.

  • Execute dimensional inspections using precision hand tools to ensure part and assembly compliance.

  • Perform final inspections prior to hardware delivery, collaborating with Quality Engineers to document and address any quality concerns.

  • Review and verify work order completeness and accuracy prior to closure, ensuring labeling, counts, and kit contents are correct.

  • Accurately document inspection results and contribute to End Item Data Package (EIDP) documentation.

  • Support internal quality initiatives by identifying non-conformances and participating in root cause analysis.

  • Perform source inspections at sub-tier suppliers as needed.

  • Maintain proper usage of calibration and measurement systems in accordance with internal quality standards.


What you NEED to SUCCEED in this important role:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum 5 years of quality inspection experience, preferably in aerospace or high-reliability, low-volume manufacturing environments.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Skilled in the use and setup of mechanical inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges).

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.


What will make you stand out:

  • Working knowledge of aerospace industry standards and terminology.

  • Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO9001 quality management systems.

  • Experience documenting quality data in both paper-based and electronic systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, web portals).

  • Basic understanding of calibration processes and traceability requirements.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Willingness to work in confined spaces or at elevated heights (scissor lift use may be required).

  • Occasional travel (5–10%) for source inspections or test support.
