Our client is a leader in the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) specializing in electronics manufacturing solutions for critical systems. They serve various industries, including aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial sectors. Their key services include surface mount technology (SMT), through-hole soldering, electro-mechanical assembly, and comprehensive testing to ensure product reliability.

They are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Buyer to join their supply chain team. The selected candidate will play a key role in developing procurement strategies and managing the sourcing of electronic components used in Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS). This position is vital to ensuring supplier efficiency, material availability, and cost-effectiveness. Ideal candidates will have strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of the EMS industry, and a strategic mindset to support business objectives.

  • Evaluate, negotiate, and secure favorable terms with suppliers to drive procurement efficiency and cost savings.
  • Stay current with market trends, supplier capabilities, and pricing fluctuations specific to the EMS sector.
  • Collaborate closely with program management, engineering, and operations teams to align procurement efforts with broader company goals.
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assess potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to maintain business continuity.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and track supplier performance using internal systems.
  • Ensure ISO compliance across all purchasing procedures and documentation.
  • Support JIT initiatives by minimizing raw material inventory through strategic supplier partnerships.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, procurement standards, and regulatory requirements.

What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of strategic procurement experience, preferably within electronics (PCBA’s, semiconductors, etc.).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data analysis) and the full Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as Macola, Syteline, or Epicor, and quoting tools.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks.
  • Familiarity with contract manufacturing processes and JIT/Kanban inventory systems.
  • Understanding of quality systems and standards (e.g., ISO, IPC).
  • Knowledge of electronic components and supply chain operations is a plus.
