Sr. Controls Engineer

As the company continues to expand its automation engineering capabilities, they are seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join their team. The selected candidate will lead the design, implementation, and project management of large-scale capital automation projects in regulated environments. This role requires deep expertise with Emerson DeltaV systems, a strong technical background in automation, and proven success delivering compliant, high-performance control solutions.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing full project life cycles, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes.

Design and implement DeltaV control systems for complex capital projects.

Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

Lead system architecture design and control strategies to improve manufacturing efficiency.

Configure batch sequencing, phase logic, and recipe structures for optimal production performance and compliance.

Develop DeltaV graphics using DeltaV Live and DeltaV Operate in accordance with ISA-101 HMI guidelines.

Apply class-based configuration to maximize scalability and standardization across projects.

Design electrical systems including power distribution, control panels, and grounding strategies.

Specify and procure instrumentation and hardware.

Design and implement industrial networking solutions, including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, and Foundation Fieldbus.

Integrate third-party equipment using protocols such as OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, and Modbus.

Define computing infrastructure requirements, including server architecture, virtualization, cybersecurity, and redundancy planning.

Plan and manage DeltaV system licensing for cost-effective, scalable deployment.

Oversee the complete project lifecycle from requirements gathering to commissioning and validation.

Ensure compliance with GAMP5, cGMP, and other relevant regulations.

Develop and execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across project teams.

Implement advanced automation strategies including ISA-88 batch processing, historian integration, and alarm management.

Travel up to 25% for site support, commissioning, and client engagement.
What you NEED to SUCCEED in this challenging role:

8–15 years of hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV systems in system design and project execution.

Proficiency in DeltaV Live and DeltaV Operate, with expertise in high-performance HMI design (ISA-101).

Strong background in class-based configuration and ISA-88 batch processing.

Proven track record managing large-scale automation projects in regulated environments.

Knowledge of automation protocols (HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, IO-Link).

Expertise in industrial networking between controllers, servers, and HMIs.
-
Deep understanding of cGMP, GAMP5, and relevant compliance standards.

Experience integrating electrical and process control systems.

Experience specifying and designing MCCs, VFDs, control panels, and power distribution systems.

Knowledge of server infrastructure and virtualization for DeltaV deployment.

Experience with OEM system integration via OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, and other protocols.

Ability to plan and manage DeltaV licensing for efficient project delivery.

Bonus: Familiarity with Rockwell Automation, Inductive Automation Ignition, Siemens PCS7, or other DCS/SCADA platforms.
