Position Overview

Title: FP&A Manager
Location: Columbus, Ohio (Hybrid possible after initial months)
Reports to: Hiring Manager (likely CFO or Head of Finance)
Team: Oversees one FP&A Analyst (mid-20s, current employee)


Role Focus & Responsibilities

  • Lead Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function to support business decision-making.

  • Act as the bridge between finance and operations, focusing on strategic insights, not just reporting.

  • Manage financial modeling, forecasting, variance analysis, and board reporting.

  • Work directly with executive leadership, including board-facing responsibilities.

  • Support M&A activities: quality of earnings, due diligence, integration, and post-merger analysis.

  • Drive data-driven financial storytelling using analytics platforms.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the current FP&A analyst.

  • Eventually step into a Director / VP of Finance path as the company grows.


Technical Requirements

  • Finance data analytics proficiency — strong understanding of financial data and business performance metrics.

  • Familiarity with relational databases (must understand how to query datasets).

  • Preferred tools:

    • Snowflake (primary data environment)

    • Power BI, Alteryx, or Domo

    • Exposure to Six Sigma methodologies (company uses Sigma framework)

  • SQL knowledge helpful but not mandatory.

  • Strong command of financial systems and comfort in PE-backed, high-growth environments.


Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 3–7 years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or sales finance.

  • Private equity–backed company experience preferred.

  • Ambitious and analytical, with a desire to grow into a CFO role.

  • Excellent communicator — must be able to extract insights from multiple departments.

  • Athletic / competitive background (collegiate athletes encouraged) — valued for discipline and drive.

  • Cultural fit: capable, assertive, and able to thrive in a high-intensity, non-corporate environment.

  • Work ethic: 50–60 hours/week typical; must handle fast pace and pressure from board-level expectations.


Compensation

  • Base Salary: Flexible depending on candidate quality — estimated $100K–$130K range based on context.

  • Bonus: Up to 20% discretionary, depending on performance.

  • Promotion Path: Clear trajectory to Director / VP of Finance or CFO in 2–4 years.
