Sr. Thermal Systems Engineer
The Thermal Systems Engineer will lead complex thermal and mechanical engineering efforts involving concept development, thermal modeling, prototype builds, and system-level testing. The position also includes hands-on support for field issues, installations, and customer-facing technical guidance.
Key Responsibilities

Design and develop thermal components and interfaces for active and passive thermal control systems

Conduct thermal analyses to evaluate component and module performance

Integrate thermal solutions into electrical, mechanical, and motion-control product designs

Perform thermal testing and validation to ensure performance compliance

Optimize thermal designs for reliability, efficiency, manufacturability, and cost

Document engineering designs, analysis reports, prototype builds, and test results
-
Stay current with emerging thermal materials, methods, and cooling technologies
-
Ensure all thermal designs meet industry and regulatory standards

Work cross-functionally with hardware, software, procurement, manufacturing, QA, and support teams
-
Provide hands-on assistance during installation, commissioning, and field troubleshooting
-
Evaluate prototypes and sub-assemblies, including deep thermal performance assessments
-
Identify risks, propose improvements, and drive continuous optimization
-
Serve as a technical point of contact for customers on assigned thermal issues

Support additional engineering tasks as required
Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Physics, or related field (Master’s preferred)

5+ years of experience in a high-technology engineering environment

Prior experience in thermal design, thermal testing, or product support engineering

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Thermal Experience Requirements

Demonstrated experience in air-cooled thermal design
-
Hands-on experience with passive thermal cooling techniques

Limited exposure to liquid cooling systems
-
Little to no experience with refrigerant-based cooling
-
Limited experience with active thermal control systems
(These specific experience markers help define the desired baseline skill set for this role.)
Additional Technical Skills

Expertise in liquid and refrigerant-based thermal systems is a major plus
-
Experience with chillers, condensing units, and heat exchangers preferred

Understanding of electronic packaging and integrating thermal solutions into automated or electronic systems

Familiarity with heaters, Peltiers, heatsinks, sockets, cryogenics, airflow uniformity, and condensation abatement technologies

Experience collaborating on complex systems involving motion control hardware, electronics, and software
-
3D CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred)

Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
