Q2 Hiring Trends: What’s Hot in Tech & Engineering

Explore Q2 hiring trends in tech and engineering. See what roles are hot now, from controls to software and quality engineers.
Here’s what I’m seeing based on real, active roles across Tech and engineering:
1. Controls & Industrial Engineering Still Booming
Industrial machinery and solar sectors continue to lead the way. We’re seeing strong hiring in:
- Electrical engineering (Building level, P.E., AutoCAD/Revit, ConEd)
- Mechanical engineering (HVAC, Plumbing, Commercial Construction)
- And most recently, a surge in Controls Engineering roles
2. Quality Engineering is on the Rise
Newer Q2 hiring trends: more companies hiring for Quality Engineers, especially in:
- PCB & semiconductor manufacturing (ISO, QMS, Root cause analysis)
- Industrial automation & controls (Automation, Software Test, Bugs, SQA)
3. Full Stack Development Demand Stays Strong
Still a steady climb in application-level software roles, especially:
- Full-stack, front-end, back-end devs (React, Nodejs, Rest API, Rust, Angular, Typescript)
- Experience with AWS, Azure, SaaS platforms, and microservices architecture.
4. Embedded & Networking Engineers Are in Demand
Both large companies and small startups are hiring:
- Embedded software engineers (especially in wireless & networking)
- Engineers with data plane, routing/switching, or low-level networking skills
If you’re in any of these spaces, it’s a great time to explore new opportunities or make that key hire!
