Last month, we welcomed Amanda Dometrovich to our team! Amanda is a senior technical recruiter at recruitAbility and has more than 10 years of recruiting experience.

A self-described “people person,” Amanda began her career in IT recruiting for a boutique agency in the Bay Area. That experience sparked her passion for recruiting.

Learn more about her background and what she enjoys doing outside of the office below.

Describe your role at recruitAbility.
I specialize in technical recruiting, and I work locally and nationally to help companies find top talent. It’s a really collaborative role, which I enjoy.

I also spend a good portion of my day cultivating relationships with candidates to ensure that they have a positive experience during the hiring and interview process.

Having fun and changing lives is basically what my job boils down to!

What made you want to work in recruiting?
My brother recommended that I pursue a career in recruiting for a few reasons.

  1. I’ve always been an extrovert and I love people.
  2. I enjoy helping other people and building genuine relationships with people.

He was right, and I love my career.

What’s your favorite part of recruiting?
I love giving candidates good news. It never gets old 🙂

I’m grateful that a lot of people I’ve placed in jobs keep in touch and reach out to me when they’re ready to make their next job move. It’s a win-win, because a lot of these people refer me to others in their network. It’s all about relationships!

What made you want to join recruitAbility?
The people and the culture! My first day with the team was completely different than what I have experienced with other agencies here in Austin. It’s so welcoming.

Do you have a favorite business book?
Good to Great” by Jim Collins.

What’s your favorite part about living in Austin?
The people (everyone is so friendly) and the music scene!

Favorite dinner spot in Austin?
Truluck’s. They have delicious drinks, starters, and entrees! Also, when you celebrate a birthday there, they bring out a complimentary dessert called the baked Alaska!

What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?
Boating on Lake Travis, exploring all the distilleries, and spending time with friends and family!
