Giving back in Guatemala

One of our core values at recruitAbility is “Live to Serve”, we take this to heart in serving our clients every day and our activities outside of the office. In July our Director of Business Development, Richard Fusco, led a group of 11 University of Texas – McCombs School of Business MBAs on a service trip to the community of Palencia in Guatemala. The trip was run by an organization Richard is a founding member of called Building Bridges Worldwide and their partners for the trip Eleva Coffee and Mercon Coffee Group. The team raised over $17,000 to help refurbish classrooms, build new bathrooms and install fencing for 3 schools in the community. The improvements will allow more kids to attend school, provide safety from roaming animals and protect the buildings from floods during the rainy season.

It was a chance for the MBA students to build bonds with each other through their hard work of mixing cement, painting and shoveling sand in the hot sun. They also got to interview the farmers and educators in the community to learn more about their practices and how the coffee business is so integral to the community. Getting to know the people in the community and building bonds with the children created memories that will last a lifetime.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][dt_gallery_masonry bwb_columns=”desktop:3|h_tablet:2|v_tablet:1|phone:1″ image_border_radius=”0px” project_icon_border_width=”0px” include=”1327,1323,1325,1324,1326,1328,1329,1330″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
