Our client is a leading provider of high-quality student housing communities, they are seeking an experienced Vice President – Corporate Accounting & Financial Reporting to join the team. This person will oversee corporate accounting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting policies. This strategic leadership role requires strong financial acumen, the ability to drive operational efficiencies, and a commitment to supporting organizational scalability and growth.

What YOU get to DO in this pivotal role

  • Drive efficiencies across the corporate accounting function and the broader organization to support long-term goals, profitability, and growth initiatives.
  • Oversee corporate accounting operations, including accounts payable, general ledger, and financial reporting processes.
  • Manage the preparation and forecasting of internal financial reports summarizing income, expenses, and earnings.
  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and internal control policies.
  • Supervise the preparation and review of financial statements and footnotes for private entities and joint ventures.
  • Provide strategic support to internal stakeholders, including Property Operations, Business Operations, Asset Management, Tax, and FP&A teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Property Accounting teams to coordinate efficient annual external audits.
  • Develop and maintain industry best practices for accounting systems and reporting processes.

What you NEED to SUCCEED in this leadership role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance; CPA required.
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting and/or financial operations, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role overseeing large teams.
  • Proven M&A experience, including due diligence and post-close integration.
  • Strong understanding of the Real Estate sector preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP, Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP systems.
  • Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and business analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale initiatives and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic decision-making, problem-solving, and a results-driven mindset.
  • Ability to drive process improvements and lead change management initiatives in a dynamic environment.
